Prof. Ari Widyanti is a distinguished academic and researcher specializing in ergonomics, cognitive engineering, and psychology. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in ergonomics and experimental psychology, a Master’s, and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, all of which she completed with honors, graduating Cum Laude. As a prominent figure in her field, Prof. Widyanti has contributed significantly to the understanding of cultural influences on mental workload and cognitive abilities, particularly within the Indonesian context.
Her research interests are diverse, encompassing the adaptation of mental effort rating scales for Indonesian use, and exploring the intersection of national culture with subjective and cardiovascular measures of mental workload. Prof. Widyanti has also conducted extensive studies on the performance of Indonesian shift workers, focusing on mental workload and chronotype. Her work in cognitive engineering and usability has been instrumental in advancing ergonomic practices and improving user experience in various applications.
Prof. Widyanti is actively involved in projects aimed at enhancing road safety and reducing traffic accidents in Indonesia. Her research includes modeling driving behavior under drowsy conditions and evaluating the attention and alertness of motorcyclists using GPS, employing cognitive studies with EEG measurements. She has also investigated the demographic, psychological, and socio-cultural factors influencing mobile phone use while driving.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Prof. Widyanti is a member of the Indonesian Ergonomics Society and has professional working proficiency in English, alongside her native proficiency in Indonesian. Her contributions to the field of industrial engineering and ergonomics have not only advanced academic knowledge but have also had practical implications for improving safety and efficiency in various sectors.
