Dr. Eng. Ayu Purwarianti, S.T., M.T., Principal Researcher at the ITB AI Center and Advisor to Indonesia AI Institute (IAII), served as moderator for the prestigious session entitled “Bridging Minds & Machines: AI, Human Connection, and Future Talent” during Indonesia AI Day. The session brought together Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, and Prof. Stella Christie, A.B., Ph.D., Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
During the insightful discussion, Ayu Purwarianti highlighted three key messages regarding the role of humans and organizations in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
First, individuals who use AI will outperform those who do not. Second, organizations that adopt AI will surpass those that fail to embrace it. Third, countries that strategically leverage AI will gain a competitive advantage over those that remain absent from this transformation. These three principles reinforce a consistent message: AI itself is not replacing humans. Rather, it is those who can effectively collaborate with AI who will shape the future at the individual, organizational, and national levels.
Jensen Huang contributed a global perspective on the future direction of AI technologies, while Prof. Stella Christie offered insights from the perspective of national higher education policy. With her expertise as both an AI researcher and a member of the IAII ecosystem, Ayu Purwarianti successfully bridged these perspectives through a discussion that was both strategic and grounded in practical realities.
The participation of an IAII advisor in a forum as significant as Indonesia AI Day reflects the institution’s active role in advancing strategic conversations about AI at the national level. IAII remains committed to promoting inclusive, critical, and impact-oriented perspectives while ensuring that AI development in Indonesia is not only aligned with global trends but also rooted in the needs and values of Indonesian society.
